A very sweet Christmas message for all animal lovers
I had this video forwarded to me by a friend and I couldn’t resist sharing. It is just gorgeous and is guaranteed to make you smile!
Merry Christmas and thank you for supporting Perfect Pet Finder and animal rescue generally.
Pets aren’t just for Christmas…they are for life.
I know a family who run an animal refuge in South Australia. Even though they adore what they do, they feel that people need to realise that a pet is a long-term commitment. They shouldn’t be seen as just a bit of fun which they can then dispose of when they get bored.
Many people arrive at the rescue home with their pets, which are mainly dogs, with a lot of excuses why they are no longer ready to look after or care for them. I am sure many of their reasons are valid but am also aware of the fact that many others are just an excuse to offload them.

Ban Live Export Rally in Adelaide
Thousands turned out on a gorgeous Adelaide afternoon to ban live export. I was truly touched by the sheer number of people who came to voice their opposition to the trade, on behalf of those without a voice.
Unfortunately, I didn’t record all the speeches like I did last time. We were too far back…and my arms were a little sore after the last one. However, I did take a panoramic shot so you can get a sense of crowd numbers. It was truly impressive!
Surely the Gillard Government can’t ignore such a strong show of public support for the ending of the live animal export trade.
Animal welfare global wrap-up
Peter Singer was recently published on CNN world. The short article provides a concise review of some recent animal welfare developments around the globe. Notably, the recent motion passed in the British House of Commons banning the use of the wild animals in circuses. Singer also mentions the Chinese government’s prohibition on the sale of live goats, chickens and horses for live feeding to the big cats at state-owned zoos.
